This is the look Kate gave me when I told her she'll be crawling soon! :) She's not crawling yet, (she's 5 months old), but I wanted to know some good tips on "baby-proofing" a house. My sister in law told me, it's never done. (example: You come home from the grocery store, and put the bags on the floor...etc...) But could you please give me some tips on how to keep things safe for a little one? Maybe something you hadn't realzied until your baby started crawling. Thanks so much. Oh, if you don't have a
blogspot account, you can always email me at
talkbaby@live.com. Thanks a bunch! :)
Potted plants had to be moved when Tyler started crawling. He would try to eat the dirt and leaves. Also, all cords and outlets had to be moved or covered. They find so many things to get into!
ReplyDeleteKids love to pull stuff out of cupboards. It usually takes a few days for them to figure out how to get them opened. But, once they do...they just can't leave them alone. It's fun to leave 1 cupboard available for them to rummage through if possible. Just put stuff in there that you don't mind them taking out over and over and over. Get cupboard closures that are easy for you to open. Walmart here started carrying a new type and I HATE them. They are nearly impossible for me to open. I ended up throwing them out and using a twist tie instead.
ReplyDeleteTrash: if it's out they will get into it. I don't really have the cupboard space to hide mine, so Tex is always in it.
Low coffee tables with corners. After they crawl, they'll start pulling themself up on stuff. And they are very wobbly. So, if you have a table next to a couch, might want to get corner covers.
hmmm....Don't stress it too much. I think baby-proofing is one of the fun parts of mother-hood. You get to see how creative you can be with whatever your child starts throwing at you. But it's definately good to get a head start. You are a smart momma!
Love you!
